Eisenhower Results

After taking a few weeks off for the Christmas holidays and final exams, the Clear Brook Speech & Debate team kicked off the start of a new calendar year with more wins and accolades for Clear Brook High School!  Nearly 20 members of the team attended Eisenhower High School for one of the few remaining Texas Forensic Qualifying tournaments of the competitive season.  Entries were comprised of acting and speaking events, not to mention, Student Congress, Cross Examination and Lincoln Douglas debate.

The winners from this weekend’s trip include three of the top eight spots in Impromptu Speaking, who include Adnan Mohamed in 6th place, Brandon Wardlaw in 4th and Brittny Johnson in 3rd.

Clear Brook’s new Oral Interpretation class also made great gains this weekend by showcasing its student talent with awards brought home by Stephanie Dodd with a 2nd place win in Prose Interpretation and Kelly Hairfield with a 7th place honor in Humorous Interpretation.

Not to be outdone, however, the Debate side of Clear Brook’s squad continued to flex its intellectual prowess with a 2nd place win by Lindsay Bernsen in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, a 6th place finish in Student Congress by Ross Adams and a 1st place overall win by squad president, Brandon Wardlaw in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Due to the continued success of the Clear Brook Speech & Debate squad, Lindsay Bernsen has now gained her state qualification in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking for the state meet in March, which makes her, as well as Brandon Wardlaw, two double qualified students at the state level from Clear Brook.  With his additional 1st place win, Brandon Wardlaw now has more than four times the requisite points needed for qualification in Lincoln Douglas debate which makes him one of the most qualified competitors in the state of Texas.
